about us

Keinzley Brewery is a licensed manufacturing brewery (distillery) in the heart of South Taranaki. We produce what we call "the original pohutukawa whiskey" that we started making in 2017. Part of the whiskey's early story includes the development of a new manufacturing process of which we now hold the patent for.

the process

We start with a mash that is made from the best locally sourced yeasts and sugars. The mash is fermented (brewed) until it is ready to be distilled.

The fermented mash is run through stills to produce a clean and flavourless white spirit which is now ready to be crafted into the KB range of drinks.

the pohutukawa craft

The distillate (white spirit) is matured in pohutukawa wood to produce what we call "the essence of pohutukawa". Everyday the maturing whiskey is tested for its colour, clarity, aroma and flavour.

It is from this testing that we know when the whiskey is ready to be passed through our patented filtering treatment that we call "the silver treatment".

Light and Dark

These two bottles of pohutukawa whiskey can be bought individually or as a set.

Both have been purified using our "silver treatment" that strips the alcohol of all harmful bacteria, microbial and fungal growth ensuring that you are drinking the finest whiskey that we can make.

The only difference between the two bottles is the Light bottle has had two "silver treatments" producing a lighter coloured pohutukawa whiskey that is slightly smoother to drink.

So as in Day & Night we have Light & Dark, Light for day drinking, and Dark for night.

NZ Styled
Irish Whiskey

This popular drink flavour is based on the traditional Irish Whiskies of old and is made according to those traditions with the only exception we have replaced oak barrel ageing with Pohutukawa to add a lovely New Zealand taste twist to it.

ordering from us useful information

Here is some useful information you need to know before making an order.
As manufacturers we do not keep a large stock, liquor stores do that. When you buy directly from us our typical turn-around time is within two weeks of confirming your order.
All orders are pay first (pre-pay) and when your order is ready we ship it to your door.
The advantage of buying from us directly is that you are buying our drinks at slightly above wholesale prices.

labels, bottles and packaging

our labels

We print our own labels using an advanced thermal printer. This means no ink has been used on the label. Our labels are easy to peel off when the bottle is empty. These labels save us money and as such we can pass those savings on to you.

Most of the bottles listed above default to 750mL bottles however in some cases we do make one litre bottles for special drinks.

All of our bottles are NZ Food Grade Standard approved bottles, they are safe to be reused again and again and are 100% recyclable.

our packaging (boxes)

We use plain brown cardboard boxes made from recycled paper produced here in NZ for our courier boxes. You can easily recognise your package by the identifying "KB" logo sticker on the side of the package.
